The most powerful weapon.

Through circumstances in my life, I feel led to share with you what I believe to be the most powerful weapon. This weapon has both the powers to life and death. This weapon has been described as the poison of asps, arrows, swords, and a whip. This weapon cannot be tamed, yet it is used more frequently for bad, rather than good(though it is possible to use it for good).

What is this weapon? Your tongue. No, not literally your tongue. With it you can't kill, destroy, or ruin. But with it you can speak. And what you speak has that power. Let me share with you a few verses on the matter(From the Holy Bible).

Job 5:21 Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.

Job 15:5 For thy mouth uttereth thine iniquity, and thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.

Psa 5:9 For [there is] no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part [is] very wickedness; their throat [is] an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue.

Psa 52:2 Thy tongue deviseth mischiefs; like a sharp razor, working deceitfully.

Psa 57:4 My soul [is] among lions: [and] I lie [even among] them that are set on fire, [even] the sons of men, whose teeth [are] spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

Psa 64:3 Who whet their tongue like a sword, [and] bend [their bows to shoot] their arrows, [even] bitter words:

Pro 12:18 There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise [is] health.

Pro 15:4 A wholesome tongue [is] a tree of life: but perverseness therein [is] a breach in the spirit.

Pro 18:21 Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

I could fill this entire blog up with verses upon verses that talk about the tongue. If you want to know more verses, either ask me, or look up keywords(Tongue, lips, mouth, speech, communications, etc) on any Bible search website.

Cruel words can tear up people. They can destroy them and kill them. Maybe you are sitting there, thinking, "Oh, but everything I say that may be taken as insults is just my way of humor. You have yours, I have mine."

Wrong. Though it may be your "way of humor," it is still sin. You cannot get away with scourging souls under the guise of jest. It still hurts, it still is a sin.

Sometimes that is even worse. Especially if you get confronted by the person who you scourge with your mouth, and you simply say it is your way of humor, no personal hatred between you and them. That makes the person even more stressful. Knowing that you won't change, and that you don't think you need changing will overwhelm him.

I know, because that's what is going on with me. I'm not going to go into detail, or even vaguely touch the subject, but I know what I'm talking about.

So, what are you going to do?

Continue in your sin? Continue in your scourging of fellow Christians?

Don't. Confess your sins to God, repent, and work at conquering your tongue. (You are not going to be able to, but if you surrender it to God, He will use it for His glory.)
